Alexander Wendt'in inşacılık anlayışına göre 16. yüzyıl Osmanlı İmparatorluğu ve İspanyol İmparatorluğu çatışmasının tahlili

Abstract

Bu çalışma 16. yüzyılda, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu ve İspanyol İmparatorluğu arasında cereyan eden, Rodos'un Fethi (1522) ile temelleri oluşan ve Alcazarquivir Savaşı (1578) ile nihai olarak sönümlenen siyasi, askeri ve ideolojik çatışmanın sosyal olarak inşa edilme sürecini ve söz konusu iki uluslararası failin ben imajlarının tarihi ve sosyal arka planını problematize etmektedir. Alexander Wendt'in inşacı teorisi, Fernand Braudel'in tarih tasnifi, Herfried Münkler'in imparatorluk/emperyal çevrim modeli, Edmund Husserl'in "hayat dünyası" ve George Herbert Mead'in "I vs me" ayrımı bu analizin kavramsal temellerini teşkil etmektedir. Osmanlı-İspanyol çatışmasının nasıl sosyal olarak inşa edildiğini ortaya koyan bu çalışma aynı zamanda uluslararası ilişkiler ve tarih disiplinlerinin düşünme biçimlerini buluşturmayı amaçlamaktadır. Giriş bölümünde cari tarihçilik pratiğinin eleştirisi ve literatür değerlendirmesi yapılmış, Kavramsal Çerçeve bölümünde tezin teorik altyapısı inşa edilmiş, Tarihi ve Sosyal Tanımlar Çerçevesi bölümünde hangi sosyal türün neye tekabül ettiği tarihi ve sosyal veri ışığında tanımlanmış, Tahlil Çerçevesi bölümünde kavramlar ve tanımların etkileşimi ortaya konulmuş, Sonuç bölümünde işbu çatışma konjonktürünün daha büyük bir yapıya (histoire structurelle) ve medeni bağlama nispetle anlamı sorgulanmış ve tezden hasıl olan sonuç özetlenmiştir.

This research problematizes how the military, political and ideological conflict which took place between Ottoman and Spanish Empires in 16th century, as well as how self-images of the two international actors were socially constructed and what the the sociohistorical background behind this phenomenon was at that time. Historical span of this analysis covers the period between Ottoman conquest of Rhodes (1522) where the first yet latent seed of the conflict was sown and Battle of Alcazarquivir (1578) where the final yet indirect impact of the Ottomans over Spain came to an absolute end. Alexander Wendt's constructivist IR theory, Fernand Braudel's classification of history, Herfried Münkler's model of empire, Edmund Husserl's "lebenswelt" and George Herbert Mead's infamous distinction between "I and me" constituted the main conceptional corpus of this study. This study also aims to combine the intellectual mindsets of history and IR disciplines. Thereby, Introduction chapter criticized the current praxis of history writing (especifically in Turkey) and evaluated the current literature. Conceptual Framework chapter described the theoretical elements of this analysis. Chapter of Historical and Social Definitions defined what each historical "social kind" meant in their respective era. Analytical Framework chapter showed the interplay between theoretical framework and historical substance, then Conclusion chapter discussed what the conflict meant as "histoire conjoncturelle" in respect to the larger "histoire structurelle" of civilizational clash in the Mediterranean Basin as well as it summarized the outcomes that were reached by this thesis.
