İbn Sina'nın hafıza teorisi

Abstract

İslam Felsefesine dair yapılan çalışmaların giderek arttığı günümüzde hafıza alanı incelenmeye açık bir alan olarak kalmıştır. Bu nedenle İslam Felsefesinde hafıza problemi önemli bir inceleme konusudur. Bu çalışma kendi nefis teorisi ile sonraki düşünürlere önemli bir literatür bırakmış olan İbn Sînâ'nın hafıza teorisini incelemeyi amaçlamıştır. Çalışmanın cevaplamayı hedeflediği temel sorular hafızanın nefsin diğer güçleri ile ilişkisi bağlamında nasıl tanımlandığı, hafızanın nesnelerinin ne olduğu ve hatırlamanın nasıl gerçekleştiğidir. Çalışmanın asıl odağı İbn Sînâ'nın hafıza teorisi olmakla birlikte, hafıza ile ilgili ilk problemlerin nasıl doğduğuna işaret etmek amacıyla sıklıkla Platon ve Aristoteles'e geri dönüldüğü gibi bu problemlerin Antik Yunan'dan moderne dönüşümünde İbn Sînâ'nın nasıl bir yerde durduğunu tespit etmek amacıyla modern çalışmalardaki açıklamalara da gerektiğinde yer verilmiştir. Nitekim hafıza, Aristoteles'ten modern teorilere kadar en temelde aynı sorular etrafında incelenmiştir. Sonuç olarak İbn Sînâ'nın nefis teorisi bağlamında bilinen iç duyular sisteminin hafızanın diğer bilişsel güçler karşısında nasıl tanımlanacağını açıkladığı; soyutlama sürecinin ve anlam-suret ayrımının hafızanın nesnelerinin belirlenmesini sağladığı; tüm bunlarla birlikte zikr ve tezekkür arasında yaptığı ayrımın hatırlamanın açıklanmasında kullanılabileceği tespit edilmiştir.

Even though studies on Islamic Philosophy keep increasing, the memory remains as an open field to research. Therefore, memory in Islamic Philosophy is a significant topic for studying. This thesis aims to examine the theory of memory of Avicenna whose theory of soul provided important background for the posterior thinkers. The thesis aims to answer how to define memory in terms of its connection with other faculties of the soul; what are the objects of memory and how does remembering actually happens. The main focus of the research is Avicenna's theory of memory, but theories of Plato and Aristotle were presented to point out how the first problems about memory emerged and also modern accounts were also mentioned to be able to determine where Avicenna stands in the transformation of memory from Ancient Greek to the modern studies. Indeed, the memory has been studied with the same questions since Aristotle. As a result, it was discovered that Avicenna's account of inner senses answers how the memory can be identified as a part of other cognitive faculties; his account of abstraction and his division of intention and form establish the objects of memory and finally all of these and his division of zikr and tazakkur can be used to explain how the remembering occurs.
