İbn Sînâ'da modal mantık-metafizik ilişkisi bağlamında çağdaş özcülük tartışmaları

Abstract

Bu tez zorunluluk ve olanaklılık (imkân) kavramlarına yönelik yürütülen mantıksal, epistemolojik ve metafiziksel bir araştırmayı öz kavramı çevresinde ele alarak, modal mantık ve metafizik arasında kurulabilecek bir ilişkinin İbn Sînâ'daki imkânı üzerine yazılmıştır. Modal kavramlar Aristoteles'ten günümüze değin felsefe çalışmalarında yer almakla birlikte, özellikle son çeyrek yüzyılda giderek artan bir ilgi ile gerek mantık gerek metafizik alanında öz kavramı ile ilişkisi dahilinde farklı kuramlarla ele alınarak güncelliğini korumaktadır. Bu çalışmada modalite kavramını mantık, epistemoloji ve metafizik sınırları içerisinde ve bu alanların sınırlarını birbirine yaklaştıran bir unsur olarak merkeze aldık. Nirengi noktası olarak belirlediğimiz modal kavramlarımızdan çizdiğimiz rotamızın bir ucunu çağdaş felsefedeki özcülük tartışmalarına götürdük. İncelememizde gösterdiğimiz üzere öz kavramı hem modal mantık hem de metafizik alanı içerisinde güncel birtakım tartışmaların merkezinde yer almayı sürdürmektedir. Çağdaş modal mantık içerisinde mümkün dünyalar semantiğini, çağdaş epistemolojide özü ve buna bağlı olarak modalite bilgisinin edinilmesi problemlerini, çağdaş metafizikte özü merkeze alan ontoloji kuramlarını ve bu kuramların geldiği son nokta olarak istidadi özcülük tartışmalarını güncel tartışmalara örnek olarak gösterebiliriz. Çizdiğimiz ikinci uçta ise çağdaş bir İslam felsefesinin nasıl yapılabileceğine bir teklif olması bakımından İbn Sînâ felsefesini merkeze alarak şu sorunun yanıtını aradık: "Çağdaş felsefede ele alınan problemlere İbn Sînâ'nın bir cevabı olabilir mi?" Bu sorunun ayrıntılı yanıtlarını mantık, epistemoloji ve metafizik ile ilişkisi bağlamında değerlendirdik. Tezimizde gösterdiğimiz üzere İbn Sînâ'nın modal kavramlara yönelik yaklaşımı çağdaş kuramların yüzleşmek zorunda kalıp cevap vermekte zorlandığı modal mantıktaki öz kavramının yeri, epistemolojide modalite bilgisinin edinimi ve ontolojide istidat kavramının işlevi gibi konularda yenilikçi ve sağlam çözümler sunmaktadır.

We have written this thesis on the possibility of a relationship that can be constituted between modal logic and metaphysics in Avicenna, by considering a logical, epistemological and metaphysical research conducted on the concepts of necessity and possibility around the concept of essence. Despite the fact that modal concepts have been taken part in philosophical studies from Aristotle to the present with an increasing interest, especially in the last quarter century, they are kept up-to-date by dealing with different theories in the field of logic and metaphysics within their relationship with the concept of essence. In this study, we have centered the concept of modality within the boundaries of logic, epistemology and metaphysics and as an element that brings the boundaries of these fields closer together. We took one end of our route, which we drew from our modal concepts, which we determined as the triangulation point, to the discussions of essentialism in contemporary philosophy. As we have shown in our research, the concept of essence continues to be at the center of some contemporary debates in both modal logic and metaphysics. We can show the semantics of possible worlds in contemporary modal logic, the problems of acquiring knowledge of the essence and modality in contemporary epistemology, the ontological theories that center the essence in contemporary metaphysics, and the dispositional essentialism discussions as the last point of these theories, as examples of current discussions. At the second end we have drawn, we sought the answer to the following question by centered on the philosophy of Avicenna as a proposal for how a contemporary Islamic philosophy could be made: "Would Avicenna have an answer to the problems dealt with in contemporary philosophy?" We evaluated the detailed answers to this question in the context of its relation to logic, epistemology and metaphysics. As we have shown in our thesis, Avicenna's approach to modal concepts offers innovative and robust solutions to issues such as the place of the essence in modal logic, the acquisition of modal knowledge in epistemology, and the function of the concept of disposition in ontology, which contemporary theories have to face and have difficulty in responding.
