Fiziksel kapalılık sorunu: İbn Sînâ'nın doğa felsefesi özelinde bir inceleme

Abstract

Fiziksel dünyanın nedensel kapalılığı problemini İbn Sînâ'nın doğa felsefesi bağlamında ele alan bu tez, fiziksel olayların açıklanmasında metafizik nedenlere başvurunun gereksiz olduğunu savunan fiziksel kapalılık argümanını incelemektedir. Fiziksel gerçekliğin izahında metafizik ilkelere başvuruyu gereksiz gören bu ilke, doğaüstü varlıkların fiziksel olaylara müdahalesini reddetmektedir. Tezin ilk bölümü, fiziksel kapalılık problemini tanımlayarak, metafizik nedenlere başvurunun tarihsel ve felsefi gerekçelerini tartışmaktadır. Bu bölümde, 17. yüzyılda metafizik sebeplerin reddi ve tanrı-âlem ilişkisi ile ilâhî yaratıcının evrene müdahalesi ele alınmaktadır. This thesis, which examines the problem of causal closure of the physical world in the context of Avicenna's natural philosophy, explores the argument of physical closure that deems the recourse to metaphysical causes in explaining physical events unnecessary. This principle, which sees no need for metaphysical principles in the explanation of physical reality, rejects the intervention of supernatural beings in physical events. The first part of the thesis defines the problem of physical closure and discusses the historical and philosophical reasons for rejecting metaphysical causes. This section addresses the rejection of metaphysical causes and the relationship between God and the world, as well as the intervention of the divine creator in the universe in the 17th century. Additionally, the systems developed by Hume, Kant, and Laplace around the principle of physical closure are examined. At the end of the chapter, the gaps created by the reductionist approach and how Avicenna fills these gaps with the theory of emanation are discussed. The second chapter examines the transmission of this problem from Ancient philosophy to the Islamic world. The effects of metaphysical causes in the physical universe from Plato to Al-Kindî are presented. The third chapter, on the other hand, discusses Avicenna's conceptual analysis of the problem of physical closure and his suggestions for its solution. In this section, it is examined how Avicenna grounds the principles of existence and motion, and the new openings he brings to the problem of physical closure with the theory of divine emanation. The thesis analyzes Avicenna's approach to the problem of physical closure and his influence on Islamic thought by chronologically examining his works.
