The aim of this study is to explore fourth grade students’ perceptions about the concept of “mathematics” and “music” through the use of metaphors. The participants for this study included 158 fourth grade students enrolled in a public primary school in the spring semester of 2015-2016. To collect data, each participant was asked to complete the prompt “if math/music was a color (a type of game and a season), it would be…. Because…” This data was collected in one lesson hour by researchers. Phenomenological design was used in this study. The content analysis technique was used to analyze the data. © The Turkish Online Journal of Educational Technology.
