Today, enterprises that produce in almost every sector are looking for ways to increase efficiency and quality in their production processes. In the globalizing world economy, the conditions of competition are increasing day by day, it is desired to keep under control by monitoring the cost of each product produced. We are witnessing that digital applications, which have entered our lives rapidly in recent years, are now included in the production processes. These new technologies, where digitalization in production is defined as Industry 4.0, can be seen in different application areas in all manufacturing enterprises. Industry 4.0, which has many components such as Internet of Things (IoT), big data, cyber security, augmented reality and autonomous robots, aims to increase efficiency and quality in production processes. IoT devices are one of these new technologies that are encountered in Industry 4.0 applications and used in product life cycle management, especially in mass production enterprises. IoT devices that instantly read production data and transfer them to the cloud platform have been used in many different industrial applications in recent years. At all stages of production, IoT devices that instantly read the data and transfer it to the cloud platform, can use different data such as malfunctions and warnings, number of products produced, pressure, temperature, waste and energy. While these data are important criteria for the traceability of production, they are used to increase productivity and quality. In this study, while analyzing the use of IoT technologies in Industry 4.0 applications, a real application in which industrial treatment systems are monitored with IoT technologies will be mentioned. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
