Hareketin nicelleşmesi: Yeni doğa felsefesinin yükselişi

Abstract

Niteliksel hareketin niceliksel harekete indirgenmesi olgusunun ve 17. yüzyıl yeni doğa felsefesinin yükselişinin arkasında teorik, toplumsal, siyasal ve ekonomik pek çok parametre vardır. Fakat bu çalışmada olgunun sadece yöntemsel, metafiziksel ve fiziksel yanına dair teorik tartışmalar araştırma konusu kılınmış, sürece katkı yapmış pek çok filozoftan sadece kırılma noktaları olarak belirlenen isimler mercek altına alınmıştır. Tez, ilk olarak yeni doğa felsefesini mümkün kılan en temel dönüşümün, niteliksel hareketin niceliksel hareket indirgenmesi olduğunu göstermeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu kavramsal dönüşüm, niteliksel terimlerle tanımlanmış organik tasarımlı formalist ve statik Aristotelesçi ontolojiyi tasfiye etmiş ve yerine niceliksel terimlerle tanımlanmış mekanik tasarımlı atomcu ve dinamik (ilişkisel) bir ontolojiyi ikame etmiştir. Bu minvalde genel geçer bir ifade olarak kullanılan "fiziğin matematikleştirilmesi" tabiri tartışma konusu kılınmış, analiz edilmiş, Arşimetçi köklerine işaret edilmiş ve yeni bir kavramsallaştırma (fiziğin mekaniğe indirgenmesi) teklif edilmiştir. İkinci olarak tez, yeni doğa felsefesinin doğuşunu astronomi bilimi ve eylemsizlik ilkesi merkezli yapan çalışmaların ihmal ettiği teorik mekanik bilimini ve Arşimetçi "denge" ilkesini sürecin merkezine koymayı, bu çerçeveden bir yeni doğa felsefesi okumasının daha açıklayıcı olduğunu göstermeyi amaçlamaktadır.

There are lots of theoretical, social, political and economic parameters behind the rise of the 17th century new natural philosophy and phenomena of the reduction of qualitative motion to quantitative motion. However in this work, only the methodical, metaphysical and physical discussions of the phenomena have been taken into account and from many philosophers who contribute the process, only the ones who are determined as the breaking point have been focused. Firstly, thesis aims to show the transformation which creates the new natural philosophy is the reduction of qualitative motion to quantitative motion. This conceptual transformation eliminated the organically framed formalist and static Aristotelian ontology which was defined with qualitative terms and replaced it with mechanically framed atomist and dynamic (relational) ontology which was defined with the quantitative terms. In this manner, "mathematization of physics" which is used as the mainstream expression have been discussed, analyzed, its Archimedean roots was pointed out and a new conceptualization (reduction of physics to mechanics) has been offered. Secondly, thesis aims to explain that astronomy and principles of inertia centered reading of the rise of the new natural philosophy is ignoring mechanics and the Archimedean principles of balance, therefore this work proposes that mechanics and balance centered reading of the new natural philosophy is more explanatory.
