XVII. yüzyılda Eyüp kazasında kitap kültürü (Tereke kayıtlarına göre)

Abstract

Bu tez, XVII. yüzyılda Eyüp'te kitap kültürüne ışık tutabilmek ve hâlihazırda yapılan kitap kültürü/okuma kültürü çalışmalarına katkı sağlayabilmek amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Çalışma yapılırken birincil kaynak olarak Eyüp (Havass-ı Refia) Şeriyye Sicilleri kullanılmıştır. XVII. yüzyılda Eyüp'te kayıtlara geçmiş olan tüm defterler taranmış, bu defterlerdeki tereke kayıtları tespit edilmiştir. Tespit edilen terekeler kitap içerip içermemesi yönünde ayrıntılı bir şekilde incelenmiştir. İçerisinde kitap bulunan terekeler ise çalışma konusunun asıl malzemesini oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında kitap sahibi olan kişilerin tereke kayıtlarında yer alan bilgiler çerçevesinde kısa biyografileri çıkarılmıştır. Bu bağlamda XVII. yüzyıl Eyüp'ünde yaşamış kitap sahibi kişiler mesleklerine, unvanlarına, eğitimlerine, cinsiyetlerine vb. göre gruplandırılarak Osmanlı toplumunda hangi zümreye mensup kişilerin hangi kitaplara sahip olduğu, kitapların fiyatları, muhtevaları gibi konular ele alınmıştır. Aynı zamanda elde edilen veriler, XVII. yüzyılda Üsküdar'ında kitap kültürü üzerine yapılmış bir tezin verileriyle karşılaştırılarak mukayeseli sonuçlara ulaşılmaya çalışılmıştır.

This thesis has been prepared in order to shed light on the book culture in Eyüp and to contribute to the current book culture / reading culture studies. While conducting the study, Eyüp (Havass-ı Refia) Court Records were used as the primary source. All the books recorded in Eyüp in the 17th century were scanned, and the probate inventories in these books were determined. Identified inventories were examined in detail whether they contain books or not. The inventories with book lists in them constitute the main material of the study. Within the scope of the study, short biographies of the people who own the book have been given within the framework of the information contained in the probate inventories. In this context, book owners who lived in Eyüp in the 17th century differ in terms of their profession, title, education, gender, etc. The subjects such as which books belonged to which group in the Ottoman society, the prices and contents of the books they owned were discussed. At the same time, some determinations were made by comparing the obtained data with the data of a study on book culture in 17th century Üsküdar with the data obtained in the thesis.
