Yoğun Bakım Hemşirelerinde Psikososyal Bakım Yeterlilikleri ve Merhamet Yorgunluğu: Kesitsel Bir Çalışma

Abstract

Giriş: Yoğun bakım ünitelerinde çalışan hemşireler arasında merhamet yorgunluğu ve hastalara verilen bakım oldukça önemli bir yere sahiptir. Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin psikososyal bakım yeterlilikleri ile merhamet yorgunluğu arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Yöntem: Kesitsel tipteki bu çalışma, 01-30.03.2022 tarihleri arasında Türkiye'nin doğusunda yer alan 5 farklı ilde bulunan devlet hastanelerinin yoğun bakım ünitelerinde aktif olarak çalışan 199 hemşire ile gerçekleştirildi. Verilerin toplanmasında Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu, Psikososyal Bakım Yeterliği Öz Değerlendirme Ölçeği ve Merhamet Yorgunluğu-Kısa Ölçeği kullanıldı. Verilerin analizinde tanımlayıcı istatistiksel yöntemler ve Pearson korelasyon analizi kullanıldı. Bulgular: Hemşirelerin psikososyal bakım yeterliliği öz değerlendirme düzeyleri orta düzeyin üzerinde saptandı. Ayrıca hemşirelerin merhamet yorgunluğu, iş ve ikincil travma düzeyleri orta düzeyin altındaydı. Sonuç: Bu çalışmada yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin psikososyal bakım yeterlilikleri ile merhamet yorgunluğu düzeyleri arasında negative yönde anlamlı bir ilişki saptandı. Hemşirelerin merhamet yorgunluğunu azaltmak için tükenmişlik ve stres konusunda ilgili eğitim programları düzenlenebilir. Ayrıca hemşirelere hemşirelik mesleğinin doğası ve yaşam kalitesi ile ilgili bu tür eğitim programları sunulabilir.

Background: Compassion fatigue and the care given to patients have a very important place among nurses working in intensive care units. Objective: The aim of the present study is to determine the relationship between intensive care nurses’ psychosocial care competencies and compassion fatigue. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 199 nurses actively working in the intensive care units of state hospitals in 5 different districts located in the eastern part of Turkey between 01-30.03.2022. Introductory Information Form, Psychosocial Care Competence Self-Assessment Scale and Compassion Fatigue-Short Scale were used to collect data. Descriptive statistical methods and Pearson correlation analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: The findings showed that the psychosocial care competence self-evaluation levels of the nurses were above the medium level. Moreover, compassion fatigue, job, and secondary trauma levels of the nurses were below the medium level. Conclusion: In this study, a significant negative relationship was found between the psychosocial care competencies of intensive care nurses and their compassion fatigue levels. Relevant training programs can be organized on burnout and stress to reduce the compassion fatigue of nurses. Moreover, such training programs can be offered to nurses regarding the true nature of nursing profession and quality of life.
