Some Remarks on As 'ad al-Yanyawi's Translation of Physics

Abstract

Martin Heidegger, one of the most significant figures of Contemporary Continental Philosophy, shows highly controversial approaches to established concepts as well as dozens of original concepts that he brought to the philosophy literature. The concept of logos emerges as one of these controversial concepts. While this concept is always associated with reason in the tradition of systematic philosophy, with Heidegger, it is reintroduced to the field of discourse by returning to its pre-Socratic roots. Henceforth, a bridge emerges between the verbal and the truth in the history of philosophy. While philosophy constitutes an important pillar of this bridge in usual way, art forms the other in an interesting way. This study, which is about Heidegger's subtle effort, by focusing on his understanding of art, which he believes to be basically about utterance, and the art of poetry, which he sees as the most valuable part of arts, aims to eiamine the relationship between truth and art.
