History of Turkish Education Workshops I: 2nd Education Assembly and Moral Education [Final report of the workshop]

Abstract

History of education is an interdisciplinary research field located at the intersection of educational sciences and history. It is of great importance for a discipline to have an institutional identity in order to develop and be effective in terms of research, production, education and training. Although the number of researches and studies in the field of history of education in Turkey and the number of researchers working in this field has increased, it is observed that the necessary steps for the institutionalisation of the field have not been taken. Based on this necessity, the first step of the Turkish History of Education Workshops series was taken with the initiatives of a group of historians of education in Turkey. This article focuses on the ‘Turkish History of Education Workshops I.’ organised by the Turkish History of Education Platform hosted by Ibn Haldun University on 5-6 June 2024: 2nd Education Council and Moral Education’ hosted by Ibn Haldun University on 5-6 June 2024.

Eğitim tarihi; eğitim bilimleri ve tarih disiplinlerinin kesişim noktasında yer alan, disiplinlerarası bir araştırma alanıdır. Bir bilim dalının araştırma, üretim, eğitim ve öğretim açısından gelişebilmesi ve etkili olabilmesi için kurumsal bir kimliğe sahip olması büyük önem taşımaktadır. Türkiye’de eğitim tarihi alanında yapılan araştırma ve incelemeler ile bu alanda çalışan araştırmacıların sayısının artmasına rağmen alanın kurumsallaşması için gerekli adımların atılmadığı gözlemlenmektedir. Bu gereklilikten hareketle, Türkiye’deki bir grup eğitim tarihçisinin girişimleriyle Türk Eğitim Tarihi Çalıştayları serisinin ilk adımı atılmıştır. Bu yazı, Türk Eğitim Tarihi Platformu’nun İbn Haldun Üniversitesi ev sahipliğinde 5-6 Haziran 2024 tarihlerinde düzenlediği “Türk Eğitim Tarihi Çalıştayları I: 2. Maarif Şûrası ve Ahlâk Eğitimi” başlıklı çalıştayın sonuç raporunu sunmaktadır.
