Is Active Representation of People With Disabilities Possible in Turkiye? A Qualitative Research on Factors Preventing the Active Representation of Disabled Bureaucrats and Solutions1

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the factors hindering the active representation of disabled people in T & uuml;rkiye and the measures necessary to address these obstacles. In this context, semi-structured interviews were conducted with experts in the field of disability employment in T & uuml;rkiye, and the data were analyzed using descriptive phenomenological research within qualitative research designs. Findings from the interviews revealed that the insufficient bureaucratic representation of disabled people and the challenges encountered before, during, and after the employment process prevent their active representation in the bureaucracy. To address these issues, the measures identified in the research must be implemented to create an effective disability employment policy.
