Muhammed Konevî'nin Tercüme-i Risâletu'l-Ceyb eseri

Abstract

İslam medeniyetinde IX. yüzyılda başlayan astronomi çalışmaları hem teorik hem de uygulamalı astronominin yüzyıllar içinde geliştiği bir süreç geçirmiştir. Bu süreçte astronomi aletlerinin önemi büyüktür. Ulaşılan matematiksel bilgi ve teknik tecrübe düzeyini gösteren astronomi aletlerinin Osmanlılar döneminde astronominin özümsenmesi sürecine de katkısı vardır. Muhammed b. Kâtip Sinân el-Konevî, XV. yüzyılın sonu ve XVI. yüzyılın başında Edirne ve İstanbul'daki astronomi faaliyetlerinin öncülerindendir. Astronomi bilgisinin, özellikle de vakit hesaplarıyla uğraşan pratik astronominin daha geniş kitlelere ulaşması için eserlerini Türkçe kaleme alan Konevî, imalatı kolay ama kullanımı zor olan rub?u'l-müceyyeb isimli aletin kullanımına dair Tercüme-i Risâletu'l-ceyb isimli bir eser telif etmiştir. Bu tez, bahsi geçen eserin içeriğini, teknik incelemesini ve Osmanlı bilim geleneğindeki yerini ve önemini tespit etmek amacıyla hazırlanmıştır.

Astronomy studies, which started in the 9th century in Islamic civilization, have gone through a process in which both theoretical and applied astronomy has developed over the centuries. Astronomical instruments are of great importance in this process. Astronomy instruments showing the level of mathematical knowledge and technical experience also contributed to the assimilation process of astronomy in the Ottoman period. Muhammad ibn Ka?tib Sina?n al-Qunawi? was one of the pioneers of astronomy activities in Edirne and Istanbul at the end of the 15th and the beginning of the 16th century. Qunawi?, who wrote his works in Turkish so that the knowledge of astronomy, especially the practical astronomy dealing with time calculations, could reach wider masses, wrote a work called Tarjama-i Risa?la al-Jayb on the use of an instrument called rub' al-mujayyab, which is easy to manufacture but difficult to use. This thesis is prepared in order to determine the content, technical analysis of the work in question and its place and importance in the Ottoman scientific tradition.
