The aim of this study is to investigate the use of expanded perlite material as concrete aggregate in the production of lightweight concrete. In addition, the usability of polyurethane waste materials as aggregate in lightweight concrete is also examined within the scope of the study. In this context, mixtures in which only containing expanded perlite aggregate, perlite and polyurethane waste aggregate together, and completely polyurethane waste aggregate were prepared. In addition, steel and synthetic fibers were added separately to the mixtures to improve the mechanical properties of these mixtures. Reference mixtures without any fibers were prepared for comparison. Steel and synthetic fibers were used at 0.5% and 1% by volume. The highest bending strength and splitting tensile strength values, 5.30 and 3.05 MPa, respectively, were reached in samples using only perlite aggregate and containing 1% steel fiber. Among all mixtures, the lowest bending and splitting tensile strength values were 1.00 and 0.50 MPa, respectively, in samples using only polyurethane aggregate and containing no fibres. The effect of perlite and polyurethane aggregate on the permeability properties of lightweight concrete was determined by water absorption and capillary water absorption tests. Since polyurethane aggregate is in powder form, the water requirement of concrete is much higher than mixtures containing perlite aggregate, and the permeability values of these mixtures are higher. As a result of the study, it was determined that structural lightweight concretes could be produced using perlite aggregates, whereas the mechanical strength of concrete mixtures using polyurethane waste was insufficient for structural lightweight concretes.
