Psikolojik Esnekliğin Sıkıntıya Dayanma Düzeyi Üzerindeki Yordayıcı Rolü

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, yetişkin bireylerde psikolojik esneklik ve sıkıntıya dayanma düzeyi arasındaki ilişkilerin incelenmesidir. Kavramlar arası ilişkilerin yanı sıra, kavramlar arası alt faktörlerin ilişkileri de değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca psikolojik esneklik ve sıkıntıya dayanma düzeyi, demografik değişkenler (yaş, cinsiyet, romantik ilişki durumu, çalışma durumu, eğitim durumu, gelir durumu) açısından incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemi, 18-69 yaş aralığında bulunan 445 yetişkin bireyden oluşmaktadır. Katılımcıların 254’ü kadın, 191’i erkektir. Araştırmaya, bireylerin gönüllü katılımını sağlamak amacıyla katılım onam bilgilendirme formuna ölçekler öncesinde yer verilmiştir. Katılımcılardan veri toplamak için Kişisel Bilgi Formu, psikolojik esneklik düzeyini ölçmek için Psikolojik Esneklik Ölçeği, sıkıntıya dayanma düzeyini ölçmek için Sıkıntıya Dayanma Ölçeği (SDÖ) kullanılmıştır. Analizler için SPSS 27 paket programından yararlanılarak; değişkenler arası ilişkileri incelemek için Pearson Momentler Çarpım Korelasyonu, Doğrusal Regresyon Analizi; değişkenlerin demografik değişkenlere göre farklılaşmasını incelemek amacıyla Bağımsız Gruplar t-Testi ve Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi (ANOVA) yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre psikolojik esneklik ile sıkıntıya dayanma düzeyi arasında pozitif yönlü anlamlı ilişki bulunmuştur. Basit Doğrusal regresyon analizi sonucuna göre psikolojik esnekliğin sıkıntıya dayanma düzeyini yordadığı tespit edilmiştir. Son olarak sürekli değişkenler sosyo-demografik değişkenler açısından değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre; psikolojik esnekliğin yaş, romantik ilişki durumu, çalışma durumu, gelir durumu, eğitim durumuna göre farklılaştığı; sıkıntıya dayanma düzeyinin çalışma durumu, gelir durumu, eğitim durumuna göre farklılaştığı bulunmuştur. Araştırma sonuçlarından yola çıkarak; psikolojik esnekliğin sıkıntıya dayanma düzeyi üzerindeki etkisi sebebiyle, uzmanlara bireysel ve grup psikolojik danışma faaliyetlerinde psikolojik esneklik becerisini artıracak çalışmaları dahil etmeleri önerilmektedir. Psikolojik esneklik ve sıkıntıya dayanma faktörleri ile deneysel, boylamsal ve nitel çalışmaların yapılması ve bu ilişkiye diğer değişkenlerin eklenmesi araştırmacılara önerilmektedir.

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between psychological flexibility and the level of distress tolerance in adults. In addition to the relationships between concepts, the relationships of sub-factors between concepts were also examined. In addition, the level of psychological flexibility and distress tolerance were examined in terms of demographic variables (age, gender, romantic relationship status, employment status, educational status, income status). The sample of the study consisted of 445 adults within the age range of 18 to 69. 254 of the participants were female and 191 were male. Participation consent information form was included prior to the scales to ensure the voluntary participation of individuals. Personal Information Form was used to collect data from the participants, Psychological Flexibility Scale was used to measure the level of psychological flexibility, and Distress Tolerance Scale (DTS) was used to measure the level of distress tolerance. SPSS 27 package program was used for the analyses; Pearson Product Moment Correlation, Linear Regression Analysis were conducted to examine the relationships between variables. In addition, Independent Groups t-Test and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were performed to investigate whether variables differed according to demographic variables. According to the results of the study, a significant positive relationship was found between psychological flexibility and distress tolerance level. According to the results of simple linear regression analysis, it was determined that psychological flexibility predicted the level of distress tolerance. Finally, continuous variables were evaluated in terms of socio-demographic variables. According to the results obtained, it was found that psychological flexibility differed according to age, romantic relationship status, employment status, income status, and educational status; and the level of distress tolerance differed according to employment status, income status, and educational status. Based on the results of the research; due to the effect of psychological flexibility on the level of distress tolerance, it is recommended that experts include studies to increase psychological flexibility skills in individual and group counseling activities. It is recommended that researchers conduct experimental, longitudinal, and qualitative studies on psychological flexibility and distress tolerance factors and incorporate additional variables into the examination of this relationship.
