A STUDY ON THE WORK OF THE XVI. CENTURY WRITER HIZRÎ-I BAĞDÂDÎ’S ERKÂNİYYE

Abstract

Hızrî-yi Bagdadî is one of the 16th century poets about whom no information is found in biographical sources. The available information about his life consists of limited information compiled from the poet’s Münazara-i Tîğ u Kalem masnavi. The second work of the poet, who is not mentioned in tezkires and other biographical sources, after Münazara-i Tîğ u Kalem, is Erkâniyye. Hızrî’s Erkâniyye is a prose work that also contains some verse pieces. The work, of which two copies have been identified, one in Millet Manuscript Library and the other in the Austrian National Library, is allegorical. The work, which is based on a personal experience of the author, is remarkable in terms of both content and structure, both in terms of its multi- layered structure and metafictional elements, and in terms of its criticism of the socio-political order. In this article, the manuscripts of the aforementioned work have been analysed and compared, the text of the translation has been prepared and the work has been analysed in terms of subject, language and style. Before the analysis and publication, the problem of who is the author of Erkaniyya, Hızrî, was addressed in order to avoid confusion with other poets with the same name, and the data obtained were presented for the use of researchers.

Hızrî-yi Bağdadî biyografik kaynaklarda hakkında herhangi bir bilgiye rastlanmayan 16. yüzyıl şairlerinden biridir. Hayatına dair mevcut bilgiler, şairin Münazara-yı Tîğ ü Kalem mesnevisinden hareketle derlenen mahdut malumattan ibarettir. Tezkirelerde ve diğer biyografik kaynaklarda anılmayan şairin Münazara-yı Tîğ ü Kalem’den sonra tespit edilen ikinci eseri ise Erkâniyye’dir. Hızrî’nin Erkâniyye’si, içinde yer yer manzum parçaların da bulunduğu mensur bir eserdir. Biri Millet Yazma Eser Kütüphanesi, diğeri Avusturya Ulusal Kütüphanesi’nde olmak üzere iki nüshası tespit edilen eser, alegorik niteliktedir. Müellifin şahsî bir tecrübeden yola çıkarak oluşturduğu eser, gerek çok katmanlı yapısı ve üst kurmaca unsurlar barındırmasıyla gerek sosyo-politik düzene getirdiği eleştiriler bakımından hem içerik hem yapı yönüyle dikkat çekicidir. Bu makalede mezkur eserin nüshaları tavsif ve mukayese edilerek çeviri yazı metni hazırlanmış ve eser konu, dil ve üslup yönünden incelenmiştir. İnceleme ve neşir öncesinde Erkâniyye yazarı Hızrî’nin kim olduğu sorunsalı ele alınarak aynı isimle anılan diğer şairlerle karışmaması amaçlanmış, elde edilen veriler araştırmacıların istifadesine sunulmuştur.
