Said Halim Paşa’nın Muhafazakârlık ve İslamcılık Arasında Sosyolojik Vizyonu

Abstract

Bu çalışmada II. Meşrutiyet döneminin önemli düşünür ve siyasetçilerinden biri olan Said Halim Paşa’nın sosyolojik bir perspektiften ülke meselelerini nasıl ele aldığı araştırılmıştır. Paşa’nın sosyolojik perspektifi, Ziya Gökalp’in kolektivist ve Prens Sabahattin’in liberal sosyoloji yaklaşımlarının yanında daha muhafazakâr karakterli üçüncü bir bakış açısı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Paşa’nın aynı zamanda farklı perspektifleri bir arada kullandığı da dikkate alınarak, sosyoloji ve bazı sosyal olgulara dair anlayışının temel hususiyetleri ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır. Muhafazakâr sosyoloji çıkış noktasını teşkil etmekle birlikte Paşa’nın yaklaşımı modern hayat karşısında olduğu kadar geleneksel dünya karşısında da eleştirel bir tavrı ihtiva etmektedir. Paşa’nın sosyolojisi muhafazakârlığa ait tezlerin yanı sıra işlevselci bir analiz ve hümanistik sosyolojik bir perspektif içinde bireyci bir temayül ve eleştirel bir hüviyet sergilemektedir. Paşa’nın İslamcılığa ait ideolojik tezlerle muhafazakârlığa ait tezleri bir araya getirme cabasının sonuçları ve ne derecede muvaffakiyet kaydettiği tetkik edilmiştir. Makale Paşa’nın bu cabasının kendi sosyolojik analizi açısından ne türden sıkıntılara ve insicamsızlığa yol açtığını göstermeye çalışmaktadır. Said Halim Paşa’nın muhafazakâr bir sosyoloji bağlamında savunduğu tarih ve gelenekleri en nihayetinde İslamcı bir bağlamda nasıl reddettiği ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır.

This study tries to investigate how Said Halim Pasha, one of the important thinkers and politicians of the Second Constitutional period, examined the social and political problems of the country from a sociological perspective. Pasha's sociological perspective is often regarded as a third perspective with a more conservative character, alongside Ziya Gökalp's collectivist and Prens Sabahattin's liberal sociological approaches. Taking into account that Pasha uses differing and sometimes opposing sociological perspectives at the same time, this study tries to reveal the main characteristics of his understanding of sociology and some social facts. Although conservative sociology constitutes his starting point, Pasha's approach includes a critical attitude towards the traditional world as well as against modern life. In addition to the theses of conservatism, Pasha's sociology exhibits an individualistic tendency and a critical character in a functionalist analysis and a humanistic sociological perspective. The results of his attempt to combine ideological theses belonging to Islamism and theses belonging to conservatism and to what extent he succeeded in this combination attempt are also examined. The article tries to show that Pasha's combination attempt led to some difficulties and inconsistencies in his sociological analysis. It is also demonstrated how Said Halim Pasha, in the end, rejects the history and traditions that he advocates for in a context of conservative sociology within an Islamist context.
