Oksidentalist yansımalar açısından Fatih-Harbiye, sinekli bakkal ve ülkeler fırtınası romanları

Abstract

Dünyayı anlama, açıklama ve tanımlamada bir bakış açısı olarak sunulan Oksidentalizm, temel olarak Doğu'nun Batı'yı algılama biçimidir. Genel hatlarıyla Oksidentalizm, Batı'nın ideolojisini ve Batı'yı temsil eden düşünce, inanç, eser vb. unsurları tanımlama ve bunları çeşitli alanlarda değerlendirme yöntemidir. Batı üzerine düşünme, Batı üzerine fikir beyan etme, eser verme ve çalışma yapmayı kapsar. Günümüzde Oksidentalizmin ne olduğuna dair tartışmalar devam etmekte ve birbirine zıt tanımlar ortaya çıkabilmektedir. Bazı kişiler Oksidentalizmi, 'Batılıdan daha iyi Batılı olabilme çabası' olarak, bazı kişiler ise Batı düşmanlığı olarak nitelendirmişlerdir. Biz de bu tezde, bu tanımlardan yola çıkarak Oksidentalizm kavramının edebiyat sahasına etkisini ele alacağız. Bu tezin birinci bölümünde genel manada Oksidentalizm kavramı ve Oksidentalizmin türleri üzerinde durulacaktır. Tezin ikinci ve üçüncü bölümlerinde ise Fatih-Harbiye, Sinekli Bakkal ve Ülker Fırtınası romanlarında Batı hayranlığının/eleştirisinin hangi boyutlarda olduğu ve bu durumların ne gibi örneklerle somutlaştığı gösterilmeye çalışılacaktır.

Occidentalism, proposed as a perspective to understand, explain and define the world, is basically the way of perceiving the West through the eyes of East. In general terms, Occidentalism is a method to define ideology of the West and thought, belief, work of art, etc. representing the West, and to evaluate these elements within various realms. It embraces thinking over West, expressing an opinion on West, producing an effect and conducting studies related with the West. Today, the debate over what Occidentalism is still continuing and diametrically opposed definitions can occur. Some characterise Occidentalism as "the struggle for being a better Western than the Western", others characterise it as hostility against the West. In this study, we will handle the effect of the concept of Occidentalism to the realm of literature thorugh these abovementioned definitions. Within the first part of this study, the concept of Occidentalism and kinds of it will be elaborated loosely. Within the second and third parts, dimensions of admiration of and criticism against the West in Fatih-Harbiye, Sinekli Bakkal and Ülker Fırtınası novels and concrete examples for these situations will be demonstrated.
