Özet

The purpose of this chapter is to examine the internationalization of higher education in Uganda, focusing on Makerere University as a case study. By exploring key concepts such as regionalization, decolonization, Africanization, and globalization, the chapter provides a framework for understanding the challenges and opportunities of internationalization in the East African context. The approach involves analyzing Makerere University's strategic plan, political and social capacities, and ongoing international partnerships to assess its internationalization capacity. Key findings highlight the university's strengths, including its global collaborations and research initiatives, as well as significant challenges such as financial constraints and the need for alignment with global educational trends. The chapter concludes by offering insights for enhancing Makerere University's global engagement and positioning in the higher education sector. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
