Bolşevik İhtilali’nin ve ardından başlayan Rus İç Savaşı’nın yol açtığı göç hareketi içinde bir bölümü oluşturan Beyaz Rus göçü; göç nedenleri, göç süreci ve göçmen profili bağlamında Rusya coğrafyasından yaşanan göç hareketleri arasında özel bir konuma sahiptir. Çalışma, Rus İç Savaşı dönemindeki Beyaz Rus göçü çerçevesinde İstanbul’un konumunu araştırmaktadır. Beyaz Rus göçmenler arasında farklı toplumsal konumlardan gelenler bulunmakla beraber aralarında eğitimli ve meslek sahibi göçmenlerin sayısı hayli fazlaydı. Bu göçmenler gerek geçiş kentlerinde gerekse nihai yerleşimlerine yaşadıkları ülkelerin ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel hayatlarına etki etmişlerdir. Aynı zamanda büyük ölçüde emek göçmeni olan ve Rusya İmparatorluğu döneminde farklı ülkelere yerleşmiş göçmenler üzerinde de diaspora bilinci oluşturan kültürel etkiye sahip olmuşlardır. Çalışma, Beyaz Rus göçü sürecinde kalabalık bir topluluğa ve göçmenler arasındaki yüksek sosyo-kültürel sevideki göçmenlere ev sahipliği yapan İstanbul’un bir geçiş kenti işlevi gördüğünü ortaya koymaktadır. Beyaz Rusların İstanbul’daki varlığı hem Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun son yıllarına hem de Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin ilk on yıllarına yayılmış ve göç yönetimi bağlamında iki devlet arasındaki geçiş sürecinin gözlemlenebileceği bir alan ortaya koymuştur.
The emigration of White Emigrés, which started after the Bolshevik Revolution and continued during the Russian Civil War that followed, has a unique position among the migration movements from Russian geography regarding the reasons for migration, the migration process, and the immigrant profile. The study investigates the position of İstanbul within the framework of the White Emigré migration during the Russian Civil War. Although there were people from different social backgrounds among the emigrés, the number of educated and skilled immigrants was relatively high. White Emigrés have influenced the economic, social, and cultural lives of the countries they moved to, both in transit cities and their final destinations. At the same time, they had a cultural influence that created diaspora awareness among labour immigrants who had migrated before them and settled in different countries during the Russian Empire. The study reveals that İstanbul, which hosted a large community of immigrants of high socio-cultural level during the White Emigré migration process, functioned as a city of transit. The presence of White Emigrés in İstanbul expanded from the last years of the Ottoman Empire to the first decades of the Republic of Türkiye. In the context of migration management, it highlighted an area where the transition process between the two states could be observed.
