The Effects of Psychological Resiliency Program (PRP) on Post-Traumatic Stress and Resiliency Level of Veteran’s Spouses at the 15 July Coup Attempt

This quasi-experimental research investigated the effects of Psychological Resiliency Program(PRP) in post-traumatic stress and resiliency level of veteran’s spouses at the 15 July Coup Attempt in Turkey.In the study, 28 women whose husbands were veterans due to the 15 July Coup Attempt and who applied to anon-governmental organization named as Association of 15 July between 2016-2017 were reached with thenecessary permissions. The study was conducted with 15 women from 28 women having a veteran spouse at15 July Coup Attempt and obtaining a high score on the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist Civil Version(PCL-C) and a low score on the Resilience Scale in pre-test assessment. The 15 women in the experimentalgroup were divided into two according to their location (n=7 and n=8). Two experimental groups received PRPwhich is an 8-session, psychological intervention group program developed by the researcher. To determinethe immediate and long-term effects of the PRP program, post-tests were applied on all the participants beforePRP, after PRP, and 2,5-months after the PRP, respectively. For repeated measures in data analysis of theresearch, one-way ANOVA has been used. This study has pointed out that psychological resiliency programwas signifacntly effective in reducing post-traumatic stress level in women. Moreover, PRP was significantlyeffective in increasing psychological resiliency level of women, permanently. The findings have been discussedin accordance with the related literature and recommendations were made to the related parties.
