Fahreddin er-Râzî Düşüncesinde İmkan: Fâil-i Muhtâr Nazariyesinin Modalite ve Doğa Felsefesindeki Tazammunları

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Fahreddin er-Râzî‘nin düşüncesinde imkan kavramını, Fâil-i muhtâr nazariyesi bağlamında ele almaktadır. Tez, temel olarak şu soruya odaklanmaktadır: Bir şeyin Fâil-i muhtâr tarafından yaratılabilir (makdûr) olmasının illeti “imkan” ise, bu imkanın sınırlarını belirleyen unsurlar nelerdir? Birinci bölümde, doğanın imkanın sınırlarını belirleyici bir role sahip olup olmadığı sorgulanmaktadır. Râzî‘ye göre, cisimlerin birbirine mütemâsil olmaları, cisimler ve nitelikleri arasında hiyerarşik olmayan (heterarşik) bir ilişkiyi gerektirmektedir. Bu bağlamda, doğa imkanın sınırlarını belirleyici bir faktör değildir. İkinci bölümde, doğadaki imkan alanının genişliği, çeşitli örnekler üzerinden analiz edilmektedir. Üçüncü bölümde ise doğadaki bu olumsallık, iki yönlü olarak Fâil-i muhtâr nazariyesiyle ilişkilendirilmektedir. Bu nazariye, bir yandan imkan alanının geniş tutulmasına zemin hazırlarken, diğer yandan doğadaki olumsallığın Fâil-i muhtâr için bir delil teşkil etmektedir. İmkan kavramı doğa felsefesi perspektifinde incelendikten sonra, dördüncü bölümde bu kavram bir umûr-u âmme kavramı olarak tahlil edilmektedir. Bu bağlamda, Râzî’nin "sübûtî imkan" kavramına karşılık "ademî imkan" kavramını nasıl geliştirdiği irdelenmektedir. Burada, imkan kavramının kendinde doğru olmakla birlikte, madde gibi haricî veya zihnî bir mutabakata sahip olmadığı tartışılmaktadır. Bu bağlamda, Râzî’nin bir izafet olarak imkanın doğru olabilmesi için, zorunlu şartların neler olduğuna odaklanılmaktadır. Ayrıca, imkan kavramı mahiyetin mec’ûliyeti problemiyle ilişkilendirilmektedir. Son olarak âlemin yaratılmadan önceki imkanının ezelî olup olmadığına dair tartışmalar ele alınarak, Râzî felsefesinin sunduğu imkanları kullanarak bu probleme bir cevap sunmaya çalışmaktadır. The thesis primarily focuses on the following question: If possibility serves as the cause for something to be creatable (maqd?r) by free-choosing God, what are the factors that determine the boundaries of possibles? The first chapter investigates whether nature plays a decisive role in delineating the boundaries of possibility. According to al-R?z?, the homogeneity (tam?thul) of bodies necessitates a non-hierarchical (heterarchical) relationship between bodies and their attributes. In this context, nature does not act as a determining factor for the limits of possibility. The second chapter analyzes the breadth of the domain of possibility in nature through various examples. The third chapter explores this contingency in nature in a twofold relationship with the theory of al-F??il al-Mukht?r. On the one hand, this theory provides the basis for the expansive scope of possibility (contingentism) while on the other, the observed contingency in nature serves as evidence for the existence of the al-F??il al-Mukht?r. Following an examination of the concept of possibility from the perspective of natural philosophy, the fourth chapter addresses this concept from the perspective of ontology. Within this framework, the study investigates how al-R?z? develops the concept of possibility as a non-existential (?adam?) concept, in contrast to the Avicennian existential (thub?t?) concept of possibility. This approach facilitates the conceptualisation of a notion of mind-independent truth for possibility, uncoupled from the necessity for a truth-maker, such as existent matter as a barrier of possibility or a mental existence. In this context, the study centres on the necessary conditions for relational concepts, such as possibility, to be true. Additionally, the concept of possibility is linked to the problem of the createdness of quiddities (m?hiyy?t). Finally, the thesis engages with debates concerning whether the possibility of the universe before creation is eternal, utilizing al-R?z?’s philosophical framework to propose a resolution to this issue.
