Şehzade Mehmed evkafı ve vakfiyesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada Kanunî Sultan Süleyman'ın çok sevdiği ve erken yaşta kaybettiği oğlu Şehzâde Mehmed adına kurduğu vakıf ele alınmıştır. Şehzâde Mehmed Vakfı'nın kuruluş aşaması hakkında en önemli bilgileri içeren vakfiyesi transkribe edilmiş ve incelenmiştir. Arşiv kaynakları ve çağdaş kaynaklarda Şehzâde Mehmed'in hayatı, vefatı, adına inşa edilen külliye ile ilgili bilgilere ulaşılmış ve çalışma bunlarla zenginleştirilmiştir. Ayrıca mimârî açıdan fevkalade nitelikleri hâiz olan eserler ilgi başlıklarda izah edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Osmanlı Devleti'nin askerî, siyasî ve iktisadî hayatının zirvesi kabul edilen Kanunî döneminde inşa edilen Şehzâde Mehmed Cami ve Külliyesi, o döneme ait çok kıymetli bir mimarî vakıf eseri kompleksidir. Şüphesiz ki çalışmamız bu külliye ile ilgili yapılacak yeni çalışmalara vesile olmak için hazırlanmış mütevazi bir giriş mahiyetindedir. Bununla birlikte hem Şehzâde Mehmed hem de adına kurulan vakıf hakkında literatürde çok az sayıda çalışma olduğunu göz önünde bulundurunca hazırladığımız çalışmanın, bu açığı bir nebze de olsa gidereceğini umarız.

In this study, the foundation that Kanuni Sultan Suleyman established in the name of his beloved son, Şehzâde Mehmed, whom he lost at an early age, is discussed. The waqfiye of the Şehzâde Mehmed Foundation, which preserves the most vital information concerning the establishment phase, has been transcribed and examined. In archival and contemporary sources, information regarding the life and death of Şehzâde Mehmed and the complex built in his name have been acquired and the study has been enriched with these sources. . In addition, the works that have exceptional architectural qualities have been tried to be explained by their content in the relevant titles. The Şehzâde Mehmed Mosque and Complex, which was built during the Kanuni period, which is considered the peak of the military, political and economic structure of the Ottoman Empire, is a very valuable architectural foundation work complex belonging to that period. Indeed, our study is a modest introduction prepared to conduce to new studies on this complex. However, considering that there are very few studies in the literature about both Şehzâde Mehmed and the foundation established in his name, we hope that our study will fill this gap to some extent.
