Özet

The management of pediatric fracture care differs from that of adulthood in terms of anatomic variations. Due to high remodeling capacity, most of these fractures are treated conservatively. However, surgery would be necessary for particular types of fractures, especially in adolescent children. Some of the surgical indications include unstable fractures, open fractures, displaced epiphyseal fractures, and having multiple fractures. Both the surgical and the nonoperative treatments are not without complications. Parents should be informed about cast- and fracture-specific complications such as compartment syndrome, wound problems, growth disturbances, deformity, and restricted range of motion. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.
