Özet

Over the years, a substantial amount of literature has been accumulated about the nature and severity of cyberbullying and various variables related to it. The findings, some of which reveal that cyberbullying harms the school atmosphere and students’ social and psychological well-being, are concerning. Despite all the research, experiences of gifted and talented students (“gifted students” for brevity) remain to be less known, with few research studies focusing on their experience with cyberbullying. This study, therefore, aims to examine the nature and extent of cyberbullying among gifted students. The results of existing studies support two main approaches about bullying among gifted students. One approach argues that gifted students have been as much victimized as non-gifted students. The other claims that gifted students are more vulnerable to bullying than non-gifted ones due to some of their characteristics such as emotional sensitivity. Such results indicated that cyberbullying in gifted students needs counselors’ and researchers’ further attention as well as urgent prevention and intervention programs to define and intervene with cyberbullying in gifted students. The current chapter intends to meet the need to discuss the nature, extent, and correlates of cyberbullying among gifted students. © 2024 by Nova Science Publishers, Inc. All rights reserved.
