Sekiz Kentin Hikayesi: Türkiye’de Yeni Yerellik ve Yeni Orta Sınıflar

Abstract

E. Fuat Keyman ve Berrin Koyuncu-Lorasdağı’nın “Sekiz Kentin Hikayesi: Türkiye’de Yeni Yerellik ve Orta Sınıflar” eseri kentleşme, orta sınıflar olgusu ve neoliberalizm olgusunun birbirleri ile ilişkilerini anlatmaktadır. E. Fuat Keyman ve Berrin Koyuncu-Lorasdağı bu kitabı 2010 yılında literatüre kazandırdıkları “Kentler: Anadolu’nun Dönüşümü, Türkiye’nin Geleceği” eserinin bir devamı olarak yayımlamış ve ülkemizin çeşitli bölgelerinden sekiz kenti, ekonominin şehirlere etkisi üzerinden örneklendirmiştir. Bu örneklendirmeyi yaparken şehirleri sosyolojik, demografik, siyasal, kültürel, etnik ve din bağlamında inceleyerek ekonomi ile ilişkilendirmiştir. Hızla kentleşen ülkemizi yeni yerellik bağlamında anlamlandırabilmek için mekan ile sermaye arasında kurulan bağı, sermayenin yükselişi ile ortaya çıkan orta sınıflaşmayı, orta sınıflaşmanın ise kültürel ve sosyal hayattaki izlerini sekiz kent üzerinden incelemiştir. Bunlara ek olarak bazı kentler için 2016 OHAL dönemi ve sonrasında yaşanan kayyum atamalarına da değinerek güncel veriler paylaşılmıştır. Eser birincil ve ikincil kaynaklardan elde edilen veriler ile oluşturulmuştur. Birincil kaynak olarak, araştırmaya konu olan kentlerin belediye, valilik, ticaret ve sanayi odaları, teknokentler, üniversite yayınları, Kalkınma Ajansı raporları, günlük gazeteler, TÜİK verileri ve Türkiye’de kentlere dair yapılan araştırmalar analiz edilerek hazırlanmıştır. Kullanılan ikincil kaynaklar ise dünyada ve ülkemizde yazılmış olan kent, politik ekonomi ve yerel yönetim kitaplarının taranması ile oluşturulmuştur. Bu eser, kentlerin ekonomi temelli yaşadığı hızlı değişimleri bizlere aktararak literatüre önemli bir katkı sağlamaktadır.

E. Fuat Keyman and Berrin Koyuncu-Lorasdağı's work “The Story of Eight Cities: A New Locality and New Middle Classes in Turkey” describes the relationship of urbanization, the phenomenon of middle classes and the phenomenon of neoliberalism with each other. E. Fuat Keyman and Berrin Koyuncu-Lorasdağı published this book as a continuation of the work “Cities: The Transformation of Anatolia, the Future of Turkey”, which they introduced into the literature in 2010, and sampled eight cities from various regions of our country on the impact of the economy on cities. In making this sampling, he examined cities in the context of sociological, demographic, political, cultural, ethnic and religion and related them to economics. In order to decipher our rapidly urbanizing country in the context of the new locality, he examined the connection established between space and capital, the middle classization that emerged with the rise of capital, and the traces of middle classization in cultural and social life through eight cities. In addition, current data were shared for some cities by referring to the trustee appointments experienced during and after the October 2016 State of Emergency period. The work was created using data obtained from primary and secondary sources. As a primary source, municipal, prefectural, chambers of commerce and industry, technocities, university publications, Development Agency reports, daily newspapers, TURKSTAT data and research conducted on cities in Turkey have been analyzed and prepared by analyzing the cities that are the subject of research. The secondary sources used were created by scanning the city, political economy and local government books written in the world and in our country. This work makes an important contribution to the literature by conveying to us the rapid changes that cities are experiencing based on the economy.
