Abstract

Biyografi ya da otobiyografi ise Debby Applegate için mahrem olan ile genel olanın ya da benzersiz kişisel deneyim ile geniş tarihsel aktarımların karışılıklı etkilemişini tasvir etmedir. Foto otobiyografi ise kozmik zamanı ve zamanla olan ilişkimizi hem bir hikaye anlatıcısı gibi ard arda bir örüntü, düzenli bir akış içinde hem dağınık, parçalı anıların bir araya geldiği, kronolojik olmayan seçimlik bir deneyim olarak keşfetme imkanı sunar hem de Applegate’in tasvir dediği biyografiyi görsel bir alana taşır. Ben ve başkası bağlamında 2 Ben Anlatıları adlı kitap / proje bir otobiyografik anlatı olarak fotoğrafı üretime, performansa yönlendirirken bir yandan da bakışın eril iktidarını tartışmaya açar. Edip Cansever’in Ben Ruhi Bey Nasılım otobiyografik şiiriyle foto otobiyografiye değerli bir geçiş yapan Kadayıfçıoğlu, ben’i konuşmanın, ben üzerine refleksif düşünmenin öznel oluğunu hep geçişli, akışkan ve dinamik olmaya meyilli olduğunu vurgular.

For Debby Applegate, biography or autobiography is a depiction of the interplay between the intimate and the public, or between unique personal experience and broad historical narratives. Photo-autobiography, on the other hand, offers the possibility of exploring cosmic time and our relationship with time both as a storyteller, in a sequential pattern, in an orderly flow, and as a non-chronological selective experience where scattered, fragmented memories come together, and it also brings biography, which Applegate calls depiction, into a visual space. In the context of the self and the other, the book/project titled 2 Self Portraits directs photography as an autobiographical narrative to production and performance, while at the same time discussing the masculine power of the gaze. Kadayıfçıoğlu, who makes a valuable transition to photo-autobiography with Edip Cansever's autobiographical poem Ben Ruhi Bey How I am, emphasizes that talking about the self, reflexive thinking about the self is subjective and always tends to be transitive, fluid and dynamic.
