The Role of Digitalization on the Way to Sustainable Future: Turkey Case

Abstract

2030 Sustainable Development Goals can be considered as a more concrete form of sustainable development. The degree to which these goals are achieved will also show the degree of sustainability of the countries. Since 2015, countries that have entered a sustainable transformation have begun to build the future by adopting circular practices. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that the world is far from sustainability in many ways.It has been observed that countries continue their social welfare and economic continuity thanks to digitalization during all crises and bad conditions. On the other hand, digitalization is a supportive technology used against climate change. In this study, the relationship between digitalization and sustainable development, the ways in which digitalization supports the 2030SDG, and the role of digitalization in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change will be examined in the context of Turkey Case. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
