Corporate Structure Against Child Labor in Turkey

Abstract

It is possible to say that providing economic benefits from child labor dates to ancient times. However, the systematic exploitation of child labor as cheap labor emerges because of the Industrial Revolution. As a phenomenon due to many different and intertwined causes, child labor is an international problem that is thought to affect more than 200 million children worldwide. While child labor is an individual problem that negatively affects children spiritually, physically, and mentally, on the other hand, it is a social problem in terms of the potential of children for the future. For this reason, the issue of combating child labor is of great importance for the construction of a healthy society. Based on the importance of the subject, this study aims to determine the factors that cause child labor and to create suggestions for solutions based on the level of child labor in Turkey.Çocuk emeğinden ekonomik fayda sağlamanın çok eski zamanlara dayandığını söylemek mümkündür. Ancak çocuk emeğinin ucuz işgücü olarak sistematik biçimde istismarı Sanayi Devrimi’nin bir sonucu olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bugün pek çok farklı ve iç içe geçmiş nedene bağlı bir olgu olarak çocuk işçiliği, dünya çapında 200 milyondan fazla çocuğu etkilediği düşünülen bir uluslararası bir sorundur. Çocuk işçiliği bir taraftan çocukları ruhsal, bedensel ve zihinsel yönden olumsuz etkileyen bireysel bir sorunken diğer taraftan çocukların gelecek için taşıdığı potansiyel açısından toplumsal bir sorundur. Bu sebeple, sağlıklı bir toplumun inşası için çocuk işçiliğiyle mücadele konusu büyük bir önem teşkil etmektedir. Konunun öneminden hareketle bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’de çocuk işçiliğinin geldiği seviyeden yola çıkarak, çocuk işçiliğine sebep olan faktörleri belirleyip çözüme yönelik öneriler oluşturmaktır.
