Eyüboğlu: Bir aile tarihi incelemesi

Abstract

Bu tez, Eyüboğlu ailesinin Osmanlı taşra yönetimindeki siyasi ve idari rolünü incelemekle beraber ülkemizdeki aile tarihi çalışmalarına da katkıda bulunmaktadır. 18. yüzyılın ikinci yarısı ilâ Cumhuriyetin ilânına kadar geçen süreyi kapsayan tezde, Eyübzâdelerin önde gelen bireylerinin siyasi ve içtimai hayattaki faaliyetleri yaşadıkları dönemin şartları göz önünde bulundurularak değerlendirilmiştir. Ailenin 1764 ilâ 1837 yılları arasında Maçka voyvodalığı yaptığı dönem, ayan-merkezi idare-halk arasındaki ilişki ağı üzerinden; aile bireylerinin Tanzimat'ın ilânından sonra Trabzon bürokrasisindeki idari rolleri merkezi yönetim-yerel bürokrasi-eşraf üçgeni üzerinden; Milli Mücadele döneminde ise Eyübzâde Mehmed İzzet ile Eyübzâde Ömer Fevzi'nin icraatları aktarılmıştır. Ailenin tanınmış bireylerinden şair-ressam Bedri Rahmi Eyuboğlu'nun dedesi Eyübzâde Mehmed Hamdi Efendi'nin "Safahat-ı Hayatım" adlı hatıratının da ele alındığı çalışmada, Hamdi Efendi'nin hatıratı gerek aile tarihine katkısı açısından gerekse bir ben-anlatısı (ego-document) olması hasebiyle etraflıca değerlendirilmiştir. Bir ayan ailesinin 18. yüzyılın ortasından 19. yüzyılın başına kadar uhdesinde bulundurduğu voyvodalık idaresini noktaladıktan sonra imparatorluk içerisindeki etkinliğini hangi koşullarda devam ettirdiği de bu tezde sorgulanmıştır.

This thesis examines the political and administrative role of the Eyüboğlu family in the Ottoman provincial administration and contributes to the field of family history in Turkish historiography. It covers the period from the mid-18th century until the declaration of the Republic in 1923 and examines the political and social roles of prominent members of the family within its historical context. I focus initially on the period between 1764 and 1837 during which the family held the Maçka voyvodalık through the network of notables, central administration and the people. In the period after the declaration of the Tanzimat, the role of family members who held administrative positions in the Trabzon bureaucracy is examined in regard to the central administration-local bureaucracy-gentry triangle. The activities of Eyübzade Mehmed İzzet and Eyübzade Ömer Fevzi are my central concern for the period of the "National Struggle." One chapter is devoted to an analysis of Safahat-ı Hayatım, the memoires of Eyübzade Mehmed Hamdi Efendi, the grandfather of Bedri Rahmi Eyuboğlu, a renowned poet-painter member of the family. I have studied this text in depth both in terms of its contribution to the history of the family and as an ego-document. One of the broader aims of this study is to comprehend the conditions under which a notable family sustained their power within the empire after their voyvodalık period came to an end.
