16TH CENTURY POET EMÂNÎ'S MASNAVI TITLED ZİYÂFETNÂME AND ITS ANALYSIS IN TERMS OF THE TRADITION OF PATRONAGE

Abstract

The Turkish work Ziyâfetnâme, written in the second half of the 16th century by a poet who used the pseudonym Emânî, is written in the form of a masnavi and consists of 281 couplets. This work, which describes a feast held during the month of Ramadan by Ferîdûn Ahmed Bey, who was appointed as the engagement officer with the strong support of the Grand Vizier Sokullu Mehmed Pasha, a prominent statesman of the era, represents a literary genre with few precedents in the Ottoman literary tradition. It also provides an opportunity to examine the structure of the Ottoman patronage tradition. As a consequence of the research, his masnavi Ziyâfetname, which has not been referenced in biographical sources, in general studies on the history of masnavi literature and Ottoman literature, or in the literature on Ferîdûn Ahmed Bey, and therefore has not been the subject of an independent study previously, is the focus of this study. In the article, the edition critic of the masnavi in question and its intralingual translation have been prepared. In addition, based on primary sources such as classical biographical and bibliographical sources as well as secondary sources, the relationship between the author and the work is analyzed and the identity of Emânî, who appears as the author in the text, is discussed. Subsequently, after describing the order and content of the masnavi in detail with the content analysis method, the text was subjected to content analysis within the scope of the patronage tradition and analysed mostly in terms of sound and harmony.

Yazılı kültüre dayalı modern öncesi birçok toplumda olduğu gibi Osmanlı toplumunda da ilim ve sanat üretimi büyük oranda himaye geleneği etrafında şekillenmekteydi. Hami ve sanatçı/âlimin karşılıklı menfaatine dayanan bu gelenek, sanatçı veya âlimleri, bir hami arayışına zorlamaktadır. Sanatçılar sağladıkları himaye sayesinde üretimlerini rahatlıkla yaptıkları gibi çoğu zaman da sanatsal ve ilmî üretimlerini hami arayışının bir yöntemi olarak da kullanabilmektedirler. Başka bir ifade ile bir eser kaleme alıp bunu bir hamiye sunarak onun himayesine girmeyi amaçlayan birçok sanatçı ya da âlim de bulunmaktadır. Hayli farklı biçim ve içeriklerle tezahür eden Osmanlı dönemi sanatsal himaye geleneğine dair literatür görece sınırlıdır. 16. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında, Sadrazam Sokullu Mehmed Paşa’nın güçlü himayesi ile nişancılık görevine kadar yükselen Ferîdûn Ahmed Bey’in Ramazan ayı boyunca verdiği ziyafeti konu alan belki de araç edinen Emânî’nin Ziyâfetnâme isimli mesnevisi de Osmanlı himaye geleneği üzerinde konuşmak için farklı bir zemin oluşturmaktadır. Yapılan araştırma neticesinde, gerek biyografik kaynaklar gerek mesnevi edebiyatı gerekse Osmanlı edebiyatı tarihine dair umumi çalışmalarda söz konusu eserden bahis yoktur. Öte taraftan Ferîdûn Ahmed Bey’e dair literatürde de böyle bir eserin varlığına dair bilgi yoktur. Dolayısıyla bu çalışmada, 16. yüzyıl şairlerinden Emânî’nin, daha evvel müstakil bir çalışmaya konu olmadığı anlaşılan Ziyâfetnâme isimli mesnevisinin çeviriyazı metni hazırlandığı gibi bu metin, himaye geleneği kapsamında içerik analizine tabi tutulup belagat ilmi çerçevesinde incelenecektir.
