STATE CORPORATE ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN THE FIELD OF NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS: THE CASE OF THE TURKISH RED CLAY BLOOD SERVICES

Abstract

Objectives : The aim of the study is to examine the corporate entrepreneurship of the state in the field of non-profit organizations through the General Directorate of Turkish Red Crescent Blood Services. Design/Methodology: The research was designed as a qualitative case study. In this context, documents, activity reports, statutes, strategic plans, newspaper archives, legislation related to the subject and semi-structured interviews were used as a data set to answer the research question. Results: The result of the research shows that the state, as a corporate entrepreneur, carries out institutional work in the Turkish Red Crescent Blood Services as a non-profit organization to reveal and maintain institutions. It is among the findings obtained as a result of the research that these institutional works are also effective in the internal structuring of the organization and that it increases the organizational performance. Originality/Value: Considering the importance of blood services in terms of human life and the size of the organization within the fields of activity of the Turkish Red Crescent, which has been operating mainly on humanitarian aid since the day it was founded due to its mission, research conducted in the profit sector, especially in the context of corporate entrepreneurship, can be expressed as an original value.

Amaç : Çalışmanın amacı kâr amacı gütmeyen örgütler alanında devletin kurumsal girişimciliğinin Türk Kızılay Kan Hizmetleri Genel Müdürlüğü üzerinden incelenmesidir. Tasarım/Yöntem: Araştırma nitel durum çalışması olarak tasarlanmış bu kapsamda araştırma sorusunu yanıtlama niteliğindeki belgeler, faaliyet raporları, tüzükler, stratejik planlar, gazete arşivleri, konu ile ilgili mevzuat ve yarı yapılandırılmış mülakatlar veri seti olarak kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar: Araştırma sonucu kurumsal girişimci olarak devletin, kâr amacı gütmeyen bir örgüt olarak Türk Kızılay Kan Hizmetleri’nde kurumları ortaya çıkarmaya, su¨rdu¨rmeye yönelik kurumsal işler gerçekleştirdiğini göstermektedir. Bu kurumsal işlerin örgüt içi yapılanmada da etkili olduğu bununda örgüt performansını artırdığı araştırma sonucu ulaşılan bulgular arasındadır. Özgün Değer: Yüklendiği misyon sebebiyle kurulduğu günden bu yana temelde insani yardım konusunda faaliyet gösteren Türk Kızılay’ın faaliyet alanları içerisinde kan hizmetlerinin insan hayatı açısından önemi ve organizasyonun büyüklüğü göz önüne alındığında özellikle kurumsal girişimcilik bağlamında kâr amacı sektörde yapılan araştırma özgün değer olarak ifade edilebilir.
