Dindar ailelerde salon dekorasyon örüntülerinin kuşaklararası karşılaştırılması

Abstract

Bu tezde dindar ve farklı kuşak ailelerin ev dekorasyonu incelenmiştir. Tezin ana amacı iki kuşak arasında geleneksel/modern, eski/yeni, yeniliğe açık/yeniliğe kapalı ayrımı yapmaya uygun dekorasyon farkı olup olmadığını araştırarak, bu durumu dindarlık, kültürel bellek, kadın, moda, modernlik kavramları açısından açığa çıkarmaktır. Bu doğrultuda simgesel ve yorumsamacı antropoloji ve mekânsal üretime ilişkin sosyolojik perspektifler ile teorik çerçeve oluşturulmuştur. Kültürel çalışmalar alanının interdisipliner yapısına uygun olarak bu çalışmada niteliksel araştırma yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Tezde yöntem olarak katılımcı gözlemle derinlemesine mülakat gerçekleştirilmiştir. Saha çalışması için tüm aile fertlerinin ortak olarak en çok kullandığı "salon" üzerine odaklanılarak belirtilen analizler yapılmıştır. Sonuç olarak dindarlığın kültürel sembollerle dışa vurumunda, tablo asma pratiklerinde açığa çıktığı üzere, genç kuşağın yaşlı kuşağa göre daha esnek örüntülere sahip olması çalışmanın ilginç bulguları arasındadır. Bununla beraber genç kuşağın iv salon eşyalarının işlevsel kullanımını önemsemesi, yaşlı kuşağın ise eşyayla bağının daha çok anılara dayalı manevi bir bağ olması da ilgi çekici bulgularımız içerisindedir.

This thesis explores living room decorations among religious families across generations. The primary objective of this study is to investigate whether there are differences in the living room decorations across generations in terms of distinctions such as traditional versus modern, old versus new, inflexible versus open to change. These differences are discussed with respect to concepts such as religiosity, cultural memory as well as fashion, modernity and gender. Further, this study employs symbolic and interpretive anthropology and sociological perspectives on space and spatial reproduction as the theoretical framework. In line with the interdisciplinary nature of cultural studies field, this study employs qualitative methodology. This method of the fieldwork includes participant observation and in-depth interviews. The fieldwork focuses on the "salon", the living room, which is the most frequently used space in the house by all family members. One of the most notable findings of this study is that young generation has more flexible patterns compared with old generation, as we have observed in the example vi of the paintings in the living room. In addition, another significant finding of this study is that young generation uses their property in a functional manner whereas old generation has a spiritual connection to their property that is based on memories.
