Will machines and algorithms replace humans at public workplaces? An evaluation of the potential impacts of artificial intelligence on public service employment

| dc.description.abstract | The public sector and other domains are beginning to undergo tremendous transformations due to artificial intelligence, which is thought of as the most sophisticated information and automation technology available today. Healthcare, education, government services, transportation, customer service, public safety, and finance are among the industries where AI is predicted to have a significant impact. Because of this effect, there is the possibility that in the near future, computers and robots will take the position of people in public workplaces. It is unlikely that AI will replace people entirely, even though it can automate some tasks and procedures in shared workspaces. Rather, AI can augment human labor by handling repetitive or data-driven tasks, freeing up individuals to focus on more intricate and creative aspects of their professions. As AI becomes more integrated, jobs may change and require new skills, but AI will always struggle to perfectly replicate human judgment, emotional intelligence, and creativity. Thus, although AI has the potential to completely transform human labor, it will do so by enhancing workplace productivity and pace rather than doing so. AI can enhance citizen services through chatbots, automate administrative tasks, and help policymakers analyze data better. However, the degree to which it has an impact varies according to the difficulty of the task at hand, regulatory frameworks, moral issues, and public acceptance of AIpowered solutions. © 2025 Nova Science Publishers, Inc. | |
