| dc.description.abstract | Skene's duct cysts, arising from blocked Skene's glands, are uncommon in neonates but can present as interlabial masses. This study examines two case reports involving symptomatic paraurethral cysts in female newborns. In the first case, a preterm neonate with a 1.5 x 1 cm cyst underwent surgical incision and drainage, leading to a successful recovery without complications. The second case involved a full-term neonate with a 2 x 1 cm cyst, managed conservatively with observation; the cyst resolved spontaneously by day 55. The study highlights the absence of consensus on managing paraurethral cysts, noting that while conservative observation is often effective due to the cysts' benign nature, surgical interventions such as excision, marsupialization, and needle aspiration remain options depending on the case. The findings suggest that individualized treatment strategies, based on cyst size, symptoms, and patient factors, are crucial for optimal management. | |
